Creative arts

Creative arts is mandatory for students from Kindergarten to Year 6.

In creative arts, students discover a variety of art forms through a study of dance, drama, music and visual arts where they learn to appreciate, compose, listen, make and perform.

Each art form has its own unique knowledge and skills, elements or concepts as well as a capacity to inspire and enrich lives.

Excellence in performing arts

The arts are essential in allowing students to express creativity and individuality. It builds confidence and leadership as well as assisting in the development of academic skills.

The school employs a music teacher to come to the school one day a week delivering our music program to each class. We also have a Winstars program which runs for 1 hour each week teaching students flute, clarenet and saxaphone.

Other groups that are available during lunch times are Uke group, chior and Drumbeat.

Our students regularly perform at the Kempsey Dance and Music Festivals and Kempsey Eisteddfod.

Students can unleash their creative flair through dance and drama performances, competitions, exhibitions and enrichment programs.

Every year we support the Macleay Public Schools Spring into Art display at Gladstone Art Gallery. We also hold a Lyn Knight  Art Exhibition at school during Education week. This gives the students opportunties to exhibit their art works.

Students with particular interests and talents can participate in local and statewide activities in visual arts, music, dance and drama.
